Management’s Commitment to Safety -- Start Here

The management of Diversified Sourcing Solutions is totally committed to the safety and well-being of our employees.  This commitment includes total management involvement, improved loss control attitudes, training of our temporary employees in safe work procedures, special programs and promotions, and planned inspections.

We believe that safety does not require extra time but to the contrary, unsafe practices are time consuming and costly, frequently resulting in injury or property damage. It is our conviction that a strong safety commitment is a primary ingredient in providing you a quality service.

As part of this commitment we will be present at the beginning of every new employee’s first shift to ensure they have all appropriate personal protective equipment and receive a basic safety orientation.

Diversified Sourcing Solutions offers OSHA forklift certification, safety training, authorized OSHA training for 10-hour and 30-hour general industry courses, and OSHA compliance inspections. We also will customize a risk management assessment program that fits your company’s demands.

Risk Management - Policies and Procedures

Risk Management Partnership
Dixie Staffing’s Risk Management policies and procedures ensure our clients a well-informed, safety conscious employee.

Safety Awareness
Safety awareness begins the moment applicants enter our office.  We visually create an atmosphere of safety consciousness with posters, displays, drug policies, and other aids promoting safety in the workplace.

Safety Orientation
During the interview, each applicant receives further safety instructions by reviewing:

  • Safety policies and procedures
  • Safety video training
  • Safety video testing
  • Safety suggestion box program

Safety Meetings
Safety meetings offer a unique opportunity to interact. Clients, employees, and DS Solutions representatives meet to voice concerns, and help provide a safe work environment.

Injury Management
In the event of an on-the-job injury, DSS staff will immediately respond.  We will meet the employee at the job site and escort them to a clinic or hospital to receive the needed treatment and to complete a post-accident drug test.  We will also conduct an injury investigation and work with you to devise a corrective action to help prevent this injury from happening again.  Then our Risk Management Team and insurance adjusters will file the required paperwork with the proper state authorities and stay beside the employee to ensure that he/she receives the needed care, treatments, prescriptions and therapy.  We will even provide light duty work to fit the doctor’s prescribed restrictions.  Our goal is to get the employee healthy and back to work as soon as possible.

We take safety seriously!
10-Hour and 30-Hour General Industry Courses

DSS feels that our 10-hour & 30-hour OSHA Compliance Course will enable your company to reduce workers' compensation claims and costs and help gain the knowledge to assess your safety programs and ensure OSHA compliance.

Our OSHA-authorized outreach trainers will come to your facility or jobsite to conduct the OSHA General Industry course for your group of employees.  Or you can attend one of our meetings at our locations.  Our trainers are approved by OSHA's Training & Outreach Division to deliver these classes so you can feel confident that you are receiving the best training.

The 10-hour course will include the topics of Intro to OSHA, Walking & Working Surfaces, Exit Routes-EAP-Fire Prevention & Protection, Electrical, PPE and Hazard Communications plus up to four more topics that are relevant to your business.

The 30-hour course will include the topics mentioned above plus topics of your choice of the OSHA standards.  We can include the topics in which your business is most interested.  Examples of topics include: Lockout/Tag out, Machine Guarding, Blood borne Pathogens, Ergonomics, Powered Industrial Vehicles, Safety & Health Programs. Each trainee in the 30-hour course also receives his or her own copy of the OSHA Code of Federal Regulations for General Industry (29 CFR 1910)!

After the class, attendees will receive a certificate of completion, plus the official wallet card issued by OSHA, to certify they successfully completed the course.

OSHA Powered Industrial Truck Training (Forklift Certification)

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires that all companies provide their forklift and other lift truck operators with proper safety training. And forklift fines are always in the top 2 or 3 categories for OSHA fines.
These fines can cost your company between $7,000 and $70,000 PER WILLFUL VIOLATION and can be imposed any time an OSHA compliance officer sees that a safety issue presents a threat to your employees. In order for companies to protect themselves from these fines and citations, they must provide thorough and adequate safety training to anyone who operates this equipment, no matter how infrequently they operate.
Some of the key points of this compliance are:

  • Companies must provide general forklift training as defined in the OSHA standards.
  • Hands-on training for site and equipment specific training is also required.
  • The operators must be evaluated on each piece of equipment they operate.
  • The person(s) training and evaluating must have sufficient experience, knowledge and training to teach the operators.
  • Operators must be re-evaluated every 36 months, regardless of tenure.
  • Refresher training must be provided in the case of near-miss situations or observed unsafe operation.
  • Training sessions, exams and evaluations must be thoroughly documented.
  • This training is required for every powered industrial truck, even a powered pallet jack.

DSS can offer three services to ensure your compliance with the OSHA standards on forklifts:

  1. Our Risk Management team will review your forklift program, training, testing, evaluations and documentation. We will then offer suggestions to make improvements or corrections to ensure your compliance with the standards.
  2. We will conduct a Train-the-Trainer forklift course.  At your location, we will train your supervisors and give them the knowledge and tools to properly train your forklift operators.  They will learn the OSHA standards, what elements are needed for a proper program and how to teach these elements to your operators.
  3. We can conduct on-site training to your operators.  We will first review the general knowledge requirements, and then conduct site and equipment specific training for the operators.

Remember that the money spent on proper forklift training will be rewarded with fewer workers comp losses, less product damage, less equipment damage, reduced OSHA fines, and better employee morale and better productivity.

WRC Certified

What is WRC?
The Workers' Compensation Risk Certification (WRC, pronounced “work”) is a staffing-specific program focusing on the critical area of safety in the co-employer relationship. The WRC Certified Seal identifies a firm’s commitment to safety early in the sales process. The WRC standard is administered by industry leadership including the WRC Advisory Council, the American Staffing Association (ASA), the voice of the staffing industry, and RCS Services (RCS), the nation’s fourth largest independent risk management consulting firm.

Drawing influence from the ISO family of standards, staffing firms undergo a comprehensive operational evaluation process to earn the designation WRC Certified. This includes a review of how they prescreen, qualify and interview applicants. The process contemplates how employees are evaluated, matched to jobs and trained before they are sent to a worksite. Furthermore, the WRC Certification process extends into the client partnership and the methods by which staffing services build safety partnerships, communicate with clients, and maintain focus on your facility and production goals. Should an accident or injury occur, WRC Certified firms are trained to react immediately and work with the client to ensure that all employees are safe from similar harm.
